"I have developed a strong conscience around the importance of education and the unlimited possibilities when afforded the opportunity to learn the skill to read an write. I firmly believe that these fundamental skills, when positively applied, changes the course in the various areas of life. People generate confidence, improved decision making abilities and a healthy attitude whether their goals lie in achievement, selfempowerment or assisting others. Given an opportunity one can either rise to the occasion or remain. At the Flowerbed Project we endevour to create as many opportunities as we possibly can which we know will positively contribute to improving lives".

Leah has been an avid resource in terms of local youth initiatives and have been part of social and community outreach projects throughout Auckland. She attended and represented Westlake Girls High school in multiple roles. With the Girl boss initiative she has established her role in gender based programs for the advancement of career support opportunities preparing young adults to the workforce environment. She has represented YMCA in various capacities and leadership initiatives including representation on the Takapuna Trust Board.

Prioritizing education in career building and life skill is an opportunity I believe teaches a person to fish, providing them with their own engineering skill to become independent and determine their own destiny. Destiny unfolds with hard work, determination and most important, an opportunity. Any individual can certainly put in hard work and have the determination but if opportunity lacks, people normally find themselves on the back foot, trapped in their socio-econmic environment and sometimes desperate. My aim with our project portfolio is to assist, align and generate opportunities for those people in need, which would enhance their chances against their desperate environments, building their dreams and give life meaning.
