Meet Diego Boezak, 16 year old cricket prodigy from the Mitchell’s Plain Cricket Club in Cape Town, South Africa. His passion for cricket from a young age of 7 years brought him many accolades to be proud of, a great friends circle and brilliant leadership abilities. Playing senior club cricket from the age of 14 years had him surrounded with great experience often playing in the same team as his dad. He thrived in his performances and quickly mapped his pathway to becoming an all-rounder with excellent bowling and batting skills. Among his many achievements, he was selected for the JP 21 Project, JP21 Foundation, South District regional team and was selected in July of this year (2023) as a member of the Western Province Cricket Association Hub Winter Program which runs over the next three months. The program was designed to assist and prepare talented players from within this team for the Western Province Youth provincial pipeline.From us at the Flowerbed Project team, it was a sheer pleasure to work with him, his family and the team at the Gary Kirsten Cricket Academy to further hone his cricket skills. “Playing in a test match at Lords cricket ground in national colours” is his ultimate dream and we certainly hope that his moment arrives in time with all the hard work he has put in thus far.
