High Performance cricket at the Gary Kirsten Cricket Academy
The acade
my is situated in the leafy suburb of Newlands, 4 kilometers from the iconic Newlands cricket grounds in Cape Town, South Africa. The academy was established by internationally acclaimed Gary Kirsten whom have been heroic in his days as the number one batsman in the starting line up for South Africa. After a sterling cricket career he made a positive contribution in establishing the academy which provides professional assistance for talented and career seeking young men and women to garner their skills for higher honors on the local, provincial and international scene of the cricket fraternity. Many players have come through the academy and went on to achieve higher honors in their respective schools, universities, clubs and countries. The academy currently serves as an excellent feeder for breakout players in the Indian Premier League, County cricket, provincial and higher education institutions.
With supervised support locally in New Zealand and in collaboration with the academy we are to provide an excellent career enhancing and cultural exchange opportunity to:
- provide a 2 week tailor made program at the GKC academy
- participate in the high performance center program for daily one on one coaching sessions
- attend the Sports Science Institute of South Africa for high performance training during the program
- attend all round group coaching sessions to improve technical experience, individual growth and leadership in the sport
- participate in a cultural exchange program in the local community, playing in an invitational high school team
- provide a tailor made support program going forward to enhance personal development in the sport, sporting career choices in the fraternity and related career opportunities in sport
